we are located within the tanarimba janda baik estate, 10 minutes off the karak highway, east of kuala lumpur near the border of selangor and pahang.

i by car
it takes approximately 45 minutes to drive from central kuala lumpur to us.

kindly note that both waze and google maps take you through a winding and forested country road by default (i.e., the old bentong road, Exit A on our map). should a less challenging drive be better suited, please ignore gps instruction after exiting the genting sempah tunnel and come via kampung bukit tinggi instead (i.e., Exit B on our map).
ii by taxi, chauffeured limousine / bus / van
please contact us at info@alittlefarmonthehill.com should you prefer to hire a taxi, chauffeur driven limousine, luxury bus or van from our regular service provider.
iii by public transport
it is possible to come by public transport via gombak LRT station or awana bus terminal, but it requires engaging a grab car or taxi from these stations to our farm. please note that it is extremely difficult to hail a grab car or taxi from our farm for the return trip, so you would need to pre-arrange with your driver to wait for the duration of your visit, or return to pick you up when you wish to leave.
we are served by highway and tarmac roads all the way to the farm. sports cars and other low vehicles have no problem getting to us. however, tight turning circles and hilly terrain mean that extremely large vehicles such as lorries (>10 tonnes) and tour buses (>40 passengers) may not be able to get into the farm.
traffic along the karak highway is generally free-flowing but there may be serious traffic congestion on public holidays and long weekends, or when there is a road accident. please verify travel duration in good time.
booking
all guests must make a reservation before coming. we do not receive walk-in guests at all and security guards at the estate entrance will not admit anyone without a pre-booking.

our restaurant is available for lunch bookings thursday through to sunday only.
breakfast and tea are available by special arrangement for guests with private lunch bookings.
we do not serve dinner.
guests are seated at their own tables unless otherwise agreed.
our set menu dishes are served down the middle of the table ‘family style’ and guests help themselves. we do not do à la carte service.
i private booking
there is a minimum spend requirement for private bookings, as follows:
weekday – RM2,500
weekend – RM23,000
ii communal lunches & events
there may be a minimum booking size requirement for certain communal lunches and events. details are published on the event’s booking page.
our booking system only allows you to book one event at a time. should you wish to book multiple events, kindly check out one event before booking another.
I prices
our reduced child prices apply to children aged 12 and below only. there is no charge for children aged 3 and below.
ii baby chairs
baby chairs are available on request. please let us know when you make your booking so we may set the chairs up prior to your arrival.
our restaurant does not impose a dress code but we do recommend smart casual. we reserve the right to refuse entry to guests attired in a manner offensive to local custom and sensitivities
our policy is that nannies and domestic helpers are guests. please include them in your guest count.
chauffeurs and bodyguards may be left out of your guest count provided they wait in our designated staff waiting area.
we are animal lovers and have a number of farm dogs on the property. although friendly to guests, they are nevertheless extremely territorial when it comes to other animals. we therefore do not allow guests to bring their pets.
apologies.
balloons take centuries to biodegrade and damage wildlife. we have a no balloon policy at the farm. kindly do not bring balloons.
we do not do farm visits independent of lunch or event bookings.

we regularly host weddings and corporate events of up to a maximum of 60 pax. please make a private booking enquiry here.
menu
we do not publish a regular menu as what we serve depends on what is freshly harvested at the farm. however, sample menus are available on event booking pages. please note that these menus serve as guides only and are subject to change without notice.
our restaurant serves set menus only and we do not have à la carte options.
we do not have a children’s menu. children enjoy the same food as adults at our restaurant.
we are able to upgrade our set menus for private bookings only.
we make special occasion cakes by request. please enquire when you make a booking.
dietary restrictions
all the meat we serve is halal but we are not a halal certified establishment. we also have friendly farm dogs on the property.
we are happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan and pescatarian dietary requests if given sufficient notice.
please use the dietary restriction form when checking out of your communal lunch / event booking, or let us know your dietary restrictions in the course of making a private booking.
kindly note that we are unable to accommodate dietary restrictions for communal lunches / events specifically marked ‘dietary request unavailable’ on their booking pages.
we are not able to omit ingredients or otherwise change our recipes for guests with nut, gluten and dairy sensitivities, but we can offer alternative dishes if given sufficient notice. in any case, there is normally enough variety in our set menu to cater for everyone, including individuals with these sensitivities.

we are unable to omit garlic and onion in dishes that contain them.
as all our food is prepared in the same kitchens using the same equipment and utensils, we cannot guarantee that there is no trace of any one particular ingredient in any one dish, e.g. nuts. as such, our food is not suitable for anyone with severe food allergies.
booking cancellation
i private bookings on weekdays
private bookings on weekdays are cancellable with at least 14 days notice prior to the booked date, whereupon your deposit will be refunded minus an administrative charge of 4%. cancellation within 14 days of your booked date results in forfeiture of your deposit.
ii private bookings on weekends
private bookings on weekends are cancellable with at least 90 days notice prior to the booked date, whereupon your deposit will be refunded minus an administrative charge of 4%. cancellation within 90 days of your booked date results in forfeiture of your deposit.
iii communal lunches & events
all our communal lunches and events are for limited numbers only therefore we cannot offer refunds if you are unable to attend after booking. however, you are welcome to transfer your place to family and friends, or keep your funds in credit for a future event, in which case please notify us at least 14 days before the date of the event you are unable to attend.
we reserve the right to cancel your booking due to unforeseen circumstances such as insufficient numbers, pandemic, or inclement weather / hazardous haze levels. in this unlikely event, you will be notified beforehand and fully refunded.
spaces
situated in a valley, surrounded on 3 sides by densely forested hills, our grounds are marked by various farm buildings and residences. while lunches and events are hosted in our dining room or farmhouse, you are welcome to explore our grounds. however, do note that not all areas are open to visitors, especially our staff quarters. thank you for respecting our privacy.
amenities
our farmhouse space is served by a cobblestone ramp and is wheelchair accessible. there is an accessible toilet a few minutes away, one level down, via an outdoor foot path.
please do not hesitate to let us know should you have questions or require accessibility assistance. it’ll be our pleasure to help.
we have parking for 15 guest cars by default but can accommodate up to 30 when given advance notice. kindly enquire should you require additional parking.
we have wireless microphones, speakers, mixer, stage boxes for audio amplification as well as flip charts, video equipment for presentation and conferencing. please enquire should you need these.

we are situated in a valley and cell signal is unreliable. however, we do have high speed internet access.
our farm doesn’t yet have facility to charge electrical vehicles. we are working on it.
etiquette
we want everyone to have an enjoyable experience at the farm and ask that guests treat each other and our staff with respect. our staff are an excellent bunch, and good humoured, but please be aware that some may not speak english.
we take great care in the cultivation of our fresh produce. kindly help us by keeping off the planted beds. do not eat, touch or remove plants, vegetables, fruits, flowers, berries and leaves. please refrain from fishing or swimming in the ponds.
you are welcome to walk around our farm during your visit. however, please bear in mind that we are a working farm within the rainforest. this means not only will there be farm machinery at work, a large variety of jungle wildlife is also common. if you intend to explore, please wear appropriate outdoor clothing, comfortable covered footwear and stay on the footpaths. as there are unprotected waterways and an electrified fence surrounding the property, children must be accompanied by adults at all times.

kindly use the location checker in the farm shop to verify that we deliver to your location before placing an order.
if your location is nearby, or in fact part of the above listed areas, yet your postcode is not included in our delivery location database, please email us and we will endeavour to include it.
our food does not contain artificial preservatives and often includes delicate items that require refrigeration. as such, please ensure there is someone to receive your order and thereafter store it under the recommended conditions immediately. should there be no one at home to receive, kindly take delivery at your workplace or neighbour’s home.
for condominium dwellers, please do not leave your order at the security guard post beyond a short transit period.
our farmshop delivers every friday between 1pm to 5pm.
depending on your location and traffic conditions, your order may arrive any time between the hours above. please contact us closer to your delivery date should you need to know a more precise arrival time.
some of our delivery meals require simple preparation and / or oven cooking before consumption. please be sure to follow preparation instructions included in the product packaging.
i by you
we are not able to offer refunds for products sold in the online farm shop once payment has been made. you are however welcome to re-route your order to family or friends. please let us know at least 24 hours ahead of scheduled delivery if this is required.
ii by us
we reserve the right to cancel or re-schedule any farm shop delivery due to insufficient numbers or emergency. in this unlikely event, you will be notified and fully refunded (if cancelled).
you may choose to pick up your farm shop purchases directly from our farm between 11am and 4pm on pick-up dates.
i redeem
our gift vouchers may be redeemed against the value of bookings at our restaurant or purchases in our farm shop. please note they cannot be redeemed for cash, returned for a refund, have their balances consolidated to a new voucher, or replaced after expiry.
to redeem your gift voucher, kindly enter the voucher code(s) when checking out of our restaurant booking system or farm shop.
ii insufficient value
if your booking or purchase value exceeds the value of the redeemed gift voucher(s), the balance may be paid by bank transfer, paypal, debit or credit cards.
iii excess or unused value
excess or unused value of our gift vouchers will not be refunded and cannot be attributed to future transactions.
iv single use only
our gift vouchers are valid for single use only.
due to different checkout requirements, the checkout systems for our restaurant and our farm shop are separate and independent from each other. this means each individual voucher can only be used for either restaurant bookings OR farm shop purchases, not both. we therefore recommend purchasing separate and multiple vouchers to optimise redemption flexibility for your gift recipient(s).
v validity period
our gift vouchers are valid for 6 months from the date of issue. expired vouchers cannot be used and will not be refunded.
the expiry date is shown on the gift voucher.
vi loss or theft
please keep your voucher code(s) safe from unauthorised redemption.
if you have lost your gift voucher(s) or suspect unauthorised activity, immediately notify us by phone or email providing proof of purchase and gift voucher serial number for verification. we’ll be happy to replace your lost gift vouchers should they remain unredeemed. unfortunately, redeemed gift vouchers cannot be replaced or refunded.

artist residency
we operate a private artist residency programme for musicians and filmmakers. the programme is not open to public application at this time although we welcome registration of interest.
